Student Attendance Areas

Attendance Area Modifications Approved by School Board

The Wayzata School Board voted unanimously at its June 8, 2015 meeting to approve new elementary and middle school attendance areas effective for the 2016-17 school year after an amendment presented by board member Cheryl Polzin. Approximately 170 fewer students will have to move under the approved proposal. The amended proposal includes the following additional modifications to the June 4 administrative recommendation:
  • Open enrollment students from Greenwood Elementary School will remain at Greenwood and not be reassigned to Oakwood Elementary School.
  • Neighborhoods included in the geographical location East of County 101, North of County 24, and South of Highway 55 currently at Greenwood and West Middle School will remain at Greenwood Elementary School and West Middle School. (Heather Run and Seven Ponds)
  • Neighborhoods included in the geographical location East of Vicksburg, South of Old Rockford Road, and North of County Road 9 currently at Plymouth Creek and East Middle School will remain at Plymouth Creek and East Middle School. (Vicksburg Village)
  • Neighborhoods included in the geographical location East of Vicksburg, West of Niagara Lane, South of 55, and North of 18th Avenue, (areas near and including Shenandoah Woods) currently at Birchview will remain at Birchview.
Thanks to the work of the Attendance Area Reconfiguration Committee and community feedback, the new attendance areas will assign students to the new elementary school being built, provide relief to our schools that are over capacity and allow an entire elementary school to attend the same middle school.
