Wayzata High School has hosted an Empty Bowls dinner for over 22 years. The event will be held this Thursday evening, the same evening as the school's "Moment in Time" choir concert. Dinner will be served from 5-7 pm in the school’s cafeteria. In conjunction to this year’s dinner a silent auction of ceramic items will take place. The proceeds from both the dinner and the silent auction will benefit Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners (IOCP) and its fight against hunger in the Twin Cities. In the 22 years WHS has held the event, Empty Bowls has raised over $80,000 for IOCP.
For the suggested donation of $10, each bowl, chosen by our dinner guests, is filled with steaming soup and a piece of bread. Students have worked throughout this school year to create over 600 hand-made bowls from donated clay. Patrons of the event have always found the bowls to be collectibles and the students inscribe the bowls with the artist’s name and the date of the event.
